100 Days of Blogging

On November 28th, 2019, I started an experiment of blogging daily for 100 days. I had been listening to many podcasts/books by Seth Godin. He challenges listeners to blog daily for 100 days and see what happens. As far as I can tell, Seth Godin has been writing daily for over well over 7 years.

After the first 30 days or so, I needed inspiration on what to write next. I started to reach out to friends, clients, and colleagues to see what they were up to. There were about 10 individuals who I stayed in contact with and took an interest in.

What a great read! I was recently thinking about blogging more frequently, so I loved reading your experiences. I currently publish one article each week alongside a YouTube video and they are almost always in a "how to do" format that you mention. I might need to look into adding some opinion based articles in between and hope that doesn't stretch me too thin.

After the 100 days, I asked my wife what she thought if I kept going. She nearly had a conniption. Up to that point, I didn't have a morning routine and I was just fitting time into my day to get a blog out. It was really tough for her.

Another blogger, quite prominent and much more successful (financially,) approached blogging very differently. They focused on guest blogging to improve their domain ranking (DR) and eventually domain authority (DA), to get a ton of organic traffic to their blog. To do that, they were hiring freelance writers to create a ton of guest post content in a short amount of time.

Regardless of what your niche is, chances are that you have at least one or more ways to start getting some traffic to your blog. Facebook and Twitter used to be viable ways, but not so much these days.

On November 30, 2018, I set out to learn web accessibility using the International Association of Accessibility Professionals' (IAAP) certification process as guidance. I spent 100 days studying for their Web Accessibility Specialist (WAS) certification. It's the only way I knew how to become committed to learning.

Still skeptical of letting go of the 100-day mantra? Consider that 40-to-50 percent of new leaders fail within the first 18 months, and yet the vast majority will be able to show you their textbook plan for their first 100 days. In fact, President Franklin D. Roosevelt coined the concept, speaking of the 100-day session of Congress, not of his own tenure in office!

The first 100 days of government are critical in setting the tone and direction for the rest of the term. It is a time when the new government is formed, and the legislative agenda is set. This is especially true in the case of Brazil, where President Lula has been elected for his third term. He takes office facing a divided nation and facing economic headwinds.

The Brazil Institute's project, Brazil 100, explores the implications of Lula's first 100 days in office. The project's interviews, podcasts, and articles will focus on the country's key challenges and the political landscape, including sluggish economic growth, poverty, deforestation, and climate change. Through this project, our audience can gain insight into the strategies and policies that their new president is taking to address these issues.

We are a team of experienced leaders, leadership developers, headhunters, consultants and trainers that have operationalised best practice in order to help all managers succeed in the first 100 days in a new role.

A couple weeks ago when I was at the YouTube Space NY, I met Stephanie Nadia, another youtuber that believes in living life to the fullest; she's starting a new channel called Live On Purpose besides her successful make-up channel. Stephanie reached out to ask me if I could face her biggest fear with her, sharks.I was honestly not going to face this fear but I loved the idea of helping another person face her fears (not that I'm not afraid of sharks, I was not personally interested in being up close to them). So I said yes and on Wednesday we went together to the Long Island Aquarium! The place was really cool and we learned a lot about sharks before going into the cage. Then, we got wet suits and water shoes and we were ready to dive! For some reason I got extremely nervous and before going in we were both freaking out! The cage started to descend and the cold water kicked in. Once we were under water the sharks were swimming around us but it wasn't scary, it was fascinating. I'm so glad Stephanie made me do this and it felt really good to help someone else face her biggest fear, now she started her own #100dayswithoutfear project! 350c69d7ab
